Hi, my name is Sonja Calabrese and I am the “mom” in My Mom is Charming. I have 3 kids – Ryan 12, Erika 11 and Jaimee 7. When I first started this business, I began by making wine charms. I would work in the dining room during my free time. If someone was looking for me, the kids would call out “Mom is in the dining room beading”. I would jokingly reply: “I don’t bead – I charm”. Thereafter, when someone was looking for me, they would reply “Mom is in the dining room charming”.
When it came time to name my business, my son came up with “My Mom is Charming”. My business has evolved and while I still make a few wine charms, I now specialize in custom name party favors. I pride myself on making high quality items that are cool and trendy for kids (and kids at heart).
I have been lucky enough to have some great friends that have helped me grow my business. I have recruited 6 or 7 of them to work with me so that together we are able to work numerous parties at a time. (I am also no longer at the dining room table….I have an official workshop)!
